LaunchReel AI / Google Play promo video

Google Play promo video maker: from your app to your store listing

Google Play shows a promo video from a YouTube URL you add in Play Console, and landscape video is supported. Paste your app's website or its Play Store listing link, or describe the app in a sentence. LaunchReel AI writes a brief and a storyboard from what it finds, you correct both, and it renders a 16:9 MP4 that you upload to YouTube and link from your listing.

No email and no card to start. You see the brief and the storyboard first; we ask for an email only when you want the preview rendered.

What is free, what costs credits

  • Free, no email: the brief and the storyboard, written from what you paste. One storyboard rewrite is free too.
  • Free once per verified email: a watermarked 720p preview of the film (and a few per network per day).
  • Credits from one-time packs, from $9: 1 to change a shot, 10 for a clean 1080p export, 20 for 4K, 5 to start another product. See pricing.

What the film is today

  • 16:9 only, 1920×1080 or 4K. A 9:16 vertical cut is not available yet.
  • Silent: captions are burned in and you also get an .srt file. No voiceover or music yet.
  • MP4 files. No GIF export.

From export to your store listing

  • Export the film (clean 1080p, 10 credits).
  • Upload it to YouTube as public or unlisted, not private, with ads turned off and no age restriction.
  • In Play Console, open your app's main store listing and paste the video's YouTube URL (a video URL, not a playlist or channel).
  • Keep the first 30 seconds strong: only they autoplay on the listing.
  • Starting from a Play Store link? The brief picks up your listing's screenshots, and can also pick up Google Play's own promotional images; untick those before you confirm.

Google's requirements, as written

From Google's Play Console help on preview assets (checked 27 September 2026): use a video's YouTube URL, not a playlist or channel; set it to public or unlisted; disable ads for the video to be shown on Google Play; do not use an age-restricted video; only the first 30 seconds autoplay; landscape and portrait are both supported.

Our film is 16:9, which Google Play supports. A portrait cut is not available yet, and for the same reason we have no App Store preview page: Apple's previews are portrait at fixed sizes.

Questions

How long should a Google Play promo video be?

Only the first 30 seconds autoplay on the listing, so our default 30-second storyboard fits. You can ask for 60 seconds when you rewrite the storyboard.

Landscape or portrait?

Google Play supports both. We make 16:9 landscape only today; a 9:16 cut is not available yet.

Why does Google want ads turned off?

Google's help page says to disable ads on the YouTube video for it to be shown on Google Play. Turn off monetization for that video in YouTube Studio before you paste the link.

Try it on your own project

Paste your link. The brief and the storyboard come back in a few minutes, for you to correct before anything renders. See pricing.
