LaunchReel AI / Changelog video
Changelog video maker: one release, one short video
Paste the release notes (up to 2,000 characters) or the URL of your changelog page into the box. LaunchReel AI writes a brief around what changed in that release and a storyboard you edit shot by shot, then renders a 16:9 video with captions. It makes one video per release you submit; it does not watch your repository and make one for every tag.
No email and no card to start. You see the brief and the storyboard first; we ask for an email only when you want the preview rendered.
What is free, what costs credits
- Free, no email: the brief and the storyboard, written from what you paste. One storyboard rewrite is free too.
- Free once per verified email: a watermarked 720p preview of the film (and a few per network per day).
- Credits from one-time packs, from $9: 1 to change a shot, 10 for a clean 1080p export, 20 for 4K, 5 to start another product. See pricing.
What the film is today
- 16:9 only, 1920×1080 or 4K. A 9:16 vertical cut is not available yet.
- Silent: captions are burned in and you also get an .srt file. No voiceover or music yet.
- MP4 files. No GIF export.
Three ways in, and which one works today
- Paste the notes. The most reliable. We tested it on 27 September 2026 with the notes for ripgrep 15.2.0: the brief's selling points were the release's own items (gitignore matching fixes, faster traversal on very large corpora, GIT_CONFIG_GLOBAL support, a new aarch64 musl binary).
- Your changelog page URL on your own site. It is read like any page: the brief comes from that page and up to three pages linked from it.
- A GitHub Releases link does not work yet. A link such as github.com/you/project/releases is read as the repository's front page, so the release notes are not in the brief. Paste the notes instead.
What a release video needs
One change that matters to users, shown before and after; two or three smaller ones as short lines; the version number on the end card. Thirty seconds is usually enough. Put the change you want people to try first in the brief's selling points, because the storyboard follows that order.
Each new release is a new project: after your first free one, 5 credits to start it and 10 for a clean 1080p export. Packs never expire, which suits a release every few weeks. See pricing.

Questions
Can it read GitHub Releases?
Not from the link yet: a Releases URL is read as the repository's front page. Paste the release notes into the box instead (up to 2,000 characters). If the notes link to your repository, that page is read as well, for context.
Can it make a video for every release automatically?
No. You submit each release and approve its brief and storyboard yourself, so a person checks what the video claims before it renders.
How long is a changelog video?
The storyboard is written for 30 seconds by default, and you can ask for 60 seconds when you rewrite it. For one release, 30 seconds usually covers two to four changes.
Try it on your own project
Paste your link. The brief and the storyboard come back in a few minutes, for you to correct before anything renders. See pricing.
