Keynote style: a dark stage, big words and your real screens

The keynote style borrows the camera language of a product keynote: a dark stage, one idea per shot, a big word that lands and then the screen that proves it. It is the style of our readvideo.ai launch film, and it suits launch day, when you have 30 seconds to say what is new and why it matters.

What it looks like

  • A dark background with a single accent color taken from your site, sometimes with a glowing horizon line or a starfield behind the type.
  • Large type that arrives with weight: a verb lands, a pale ghost of it catches up, then it clears the stage for the screen.
  • Your real interface as floating cards with soft shadows, cropped to the part that proves the point and drifting slowly while the caption reads.

Who it suits

  • Launch-day videos for a new product or a major version
  • Products with one clear idea you can say in three verbs
  • Posts on X, LinkedIn or Product Hunt, where the first two seconds decide whether anyone keeps watching

Shot structure (30 seconds)

  1. 01Hook 4 sA line whose last word keeps changing, over a moving background. It names the moment your user is in.
  2. 02Tagline 2 sYour promise in four words or fewer, rising letter by letter.
  3. 03First verb 4.5 sA big word, then a real screenshot card, then one sentence that explains it.
  4. 04Second verb 4.5 sSame rhythm, a different screen. The repetition is what makes it feel like a keynote.
  5. 05Third verb 4.5 sThe last capability, usually the one that gets people started.
  6. 06Feature lines 4.5 sThree short lines, the middle one in the accent color.
  7. 07End card 6 sYour mark pops in, your name rises, your domain settles underneath.

Presets it uses

These are the preset and template names in our motion engine. You never need to type them, but they are the vocabulary your storyboard is written in, and each one is documented with how the same move is built in After Effects.

Questions

Does the keynote style need a dark background?

It works best on dark, because the accent color and the screenshot cards stand out. If your brand is light, say so in the brief and the storyboard will show a light stage before anything renders.

How long is a keynote-style video?

Our readvideo.ai film is 30 seconds. A 60-second version adds more verb shots rather than slowing the pace.

Do I have to use three verbs?

No. The three verbs are a structure, not a rule. The storyboard shows every word before anything renders, and you can change them there.
